Serenin Vet ™ is a natural supplement that helps manage undesirable behavioral changes caused by stress. Together with behavioral modification and training programs, this supplement can promote healthy behavioral patterns, energy levels, and sleep patterns.

Special Note: If your animal is pregnant or actively breeding, or is receiving any medications for behavioral management, please contact Animal Necessity Veterinary Consultants or call us at 1-800-721-1310, or contact your veterinarian before using this supplement.

Serenin Vet ™ is a natural supplement that supports normal behavioral patterns and promotes healthy brain and nervous system function.

Ingredients Include:

St. John’s Wort extract (Hypericum perforatum): St. John’s Wort’s active constituents hyperforin and hypericin promote healthy mentation and behavioral patterns and optimize the function of the brain and nervous system by modulating neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine; reducing serotonin reuptake in the brain; and inhibiting GABA ligand binding.1 This herb works synergistically with the other active natural ingredients, so a lesser amount is used in the Serenin formulation.

Inositol: Inositol is an endogenous simple carbohydrate, type of B vitamin, and constituent of cell membrane phospholipids in animal and plant tissues. It helps to improve the sensitivity of serotonin receptors and the efficiency of GABA transmission in the brain; both of these mechanisms may mitigate stress and anxiety and help to maintain normal behavior and even demeanor.2

Magnesium oxide: Magnesium is an factor in over 300 cell processes. It works synergistically with the other active ingredients in Serenin to maintain healthy behavior and combat anxiety, tension and stress.

Eleuthero powder (Eleutherococcus senticosus): Eleuthero, also known as Siberian Ginseng, is an adaptogen that aids in the body’s ability to cope with environmental stress and anxiety. The mechanism of action involves modulating the production of nitric oxide and cortisol through the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.3

Passion flower extract (Passiflora incamata): Passion flower extract contains flavonoids and alkaloids that promote relaxation and anti-anxiety. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of GABA uptake by nerve cell synapses. This effect on the CNS system is complex and may help manage nerve pain and restlessness.4

DL-phenylalanine: DL-phenylalanine is a form of an amino acid that promotes normal mood and behavior via two mechanisms. First, phenylalanine is a precursor for norepinephrine production and helps to maintain healthy amounts of the neurotransmitter. Second, phenylalanine is metabolized to the neuromodulator 2-phenylethylamine. An increase in the production of this metabolite helps to maintain normal mood and attention either by greater available concentration or by improvement of brain neuron receptor sensitivity.5

5-HTP L-5-hydroxy-tryptophan (Griffonia simplicifolia, seed): Griffonia seeds, from an African evergreen climbing shrub, are a natural source of 5-HTP, a metabolite produced from the amino acid L-tryptophan. 5-HTP is a direct precursor for serotonin production in the central nervous system, and thereby relieves anxiety and stress by promoting serotonin production.6

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl): Vitamin B6 enhances serotonin and GABA concentrations, and therefore helps promote relaxation and anxiety-relief.7

L-tyrosine: Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid derived from phenylalanine. It is necessary for neurotransmitter synthesis (epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine) and therefore helps modulate mood and behavior.8 During times of stress, the body may not efficiently synthesize tyrosine from phenylalanine, effecting neurotransmitter production; therefore supplementation may help the body cope with the effects of physical or psychological stress by promoting neurotransmitters synthesis.9

Folate (folic acid): Supplemental folic acid is known to improve mood, reduce irritability, and promote normal behavior, but the exact mechanism has not been elucidated.10, 11

Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin): Vitamin B12 enhances oxygen delivery to tissues by red blood cells, and the metabolite methylcobalamin may promote melatonin production which improves sleep patterns.12, 13

PDS-2865 Proprietary blend (polysaccharide complex extract, rice bran, cyclodextrin): Refer to Animal Necessity Imuno-2865 product description.

Selenium (amino acid chelate): Selenium is required for healthy thyroid function, by catalizing the conversion of the prohormone thyroxine (T4) to the active triiodothyronine (T3). A well-regulated thyroid gland is necessary for maintaining healthy behavior, activity level, and mood.14

Special Considerations: Not recommended for use in pregnant or actively breeding without veterinary consultation. Also not recommended for use if patient is receiving any other behavior modification medications, like MAOI’s. Recommend to give with food to reduce change of gastrointestinal upset. If any questions, please contact Animal Necessity Veterinary Consultants or call us at 1-800-721-1310, or contact your veterinarian before using this supplement.
